Center for the Intrepid, Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas
Commercial Flooring
Gomez Flooring Inc. is extremely proud of their involvement in this very special project.
GFC, Inc. won the flooring contract through an open bid and pulled out all the stops to complete the high-profile and time-sensitive project for wounded warriors.
The Center for the Intrepid is a 60,000 square foot, $55-million, world-class, state-of-the-art physical rehabilitation facility for United States service members including those seriously wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Center was funded by private donations through the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
This project was completed on January 29, 2007 and the opening ceremony included then-Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator John McCain and many military dignitaries including then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Peter Pace.
Randolph Air Force Base, Texas--Building 399
Floor Covering, Furniture and General Construction
When Project Manager ReDonna Mendez and her client of 20 years began planning for this major project, her client knew she could count on ReDonna and GFC, Inc. to provide a one-stop solution and follow the process from beginning to end with the meticulous attention to detail the company is known for.
ReDonna chose the majority of the integrating architectural, filing and seating products from their vendor partner, Trendway, including:
General Construction Superintendent, Jimmie Treff and his team have ramped up for the year-long project at Randolph AFB where they will renovate a two-story administrative building--one quarter of the space at a time.
The plans include demolition…
…and a complete finish-out solution—
After working with ReDonna and their client to finalize the plans and building their team of sub-trades, Jimmie Treff is involved with each stage of the project and will be on site until the project is complete.
"As long as there are people working, I will be there,” he says.

Commercial Flooring and General Construction
When project manager ReDonna Mendez was interviewed by Rackspace about taking on a job that could potentially include 230,000 square feet of flooring, she didn’t think GFC, Inc. had a chance of winning the business because of the tough competition they faced.
But, thanks to Gomez’s excellent financial record and unlimited credit line with their vendor partners, GFC did win the business and are working hard on Phase II A and B.
Rackspace is a world leader in enterprise-level internet hosting. Their San Antonio headquarters relocated to Windsor Park Mall in early 2009 and renovations are under way.
