GFC, Inc. uses a unique pneumatic system - the Universal Lift System - to move large, heavy bookshelves for flooring installation or library re-organization.
The Universal Lift System uses compressed air and a wheel and rack system to raise the full shelves and move them safely and quietly to a nearby location until the new flooring is installed. The Universal Lift System is even quiet enough to allow the library to remain open during the process.

"We are so pleased with the results," Lucile says. "And we were able to stay open the entire time. That's huge."
In addition to installing new carpet, the GFC crew moved some other heavy furniture to create a desperately - needed seating area. Lucile was grateful for the level of cooperation and service she received from Gomez. "The guys who were working with us..wow!" says Lucile.
"I really liked how they coordinated the process, too - how they communicated with us, told us why they were doing what they were doing, what would happen on each day - keeping us informed."
Bette Smith was the GFC, Inc. project manager on site for the entire job. For what could have been a stressful and risky project, Lucile admits it was not what she expected. "We enjoyed it! It was fun. And Bette and I developed a great friendship!"
